To date is to regularly spend time with someone you have a romantic relationship with.
In the world, people date to get to know each other and so their list of dates could range from one to infinity while searching for that true love. This is understandable when you consider the fact that they are limited by their five senses (what they see, feel, smell, hear or taste). The down side to such a lifestyle is that your heart is forced to live with the several disappointments and wicked blows dealt to it by people who never really cared or were too vague to appreciate your worth. This certainly cannot be God’s best for humanity.
Unlike the way the world conducts her affairs with absolute confidence in the flesh, in Christianity, we have no confidence whatsoever in the flesh; what we see, feel, smell, hear or taste.
"For it is we who are the circumcision, we who serve God by his Spirit, who boast in Christ Jesus, and who put no confidence in the flesh-"
Rather, our confidence is based on the inner witness in our spirits. This is because we know for a fact that our recreated spirits knows things that our senses would have no knowledge of.
In summary, in Christianity as we learn to depend more on the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:14), we have the ability to identify our true love from the pack of counterfeits. That witness in our spirits is the solution to the heart breaks, regrets and pains faced by so many today. Simply put child of God, don’t date for the sake of dating rather date, because you know for sure that this is the one for you. That is dating with a godly purpose!
